Light + Bone Chiropractic • Our Story
26 years on the
Westside. Now home.
From Venice to Encinitas—the story of two doctors, three kids, a 30-year yoga practice, and a book that changed everything.
THE LA CHAPTER
26 YEARS ON THE Westside
Dr. Jeremy Brook opened his doors in West Los Angeles in the year 2000. For 26 years, the practice became a fixture in the Westside community—Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, Mar Vista. The surfers, the yogis, the martial artists, the new moms, the entrepreneurs, the athletes.
People didn't just come from the Westside. They came from all over Los Angeles—and anyone who has ever driven across LA knows exactly what that commitment means. You don't sit in that traffic week after week unless the care is genuinely different.
Venice is one of the most extraordinary places on earth. Wild. Creative. Funky. Free. As an adult who can keep their head on a swivel, you thrive in it. You love it. And then you have three kids—and the calculus changes entirely.
Venice, CA
Wild. Creative. Iconic. An extraordinary place to build something real over 26 years — surrounded by the surfers, yogis, and free spirits of the LA Westside.
↓ THE MOVE ↓
Encinitas, CA
Ocean town. Deep yoga culture. The Self-Realization Fellowship down the road. Safe streets, mom tribes, and a health-conscious community that was built for exactly this.
"We were never just a chiropractic office. We were a community. And you don't leave a community — you bring it with you."
DR. JEREMY BROOK
THE YOGI WHO NEEDED THE OCEAN
DC · Spinechecker · 26 Years
Dr. Jeremy Brook
Movement & Alignment Specialist
Creator of the Spinechecker System™. Treated Olympic champions, boxing world champions, and 15,000+ new patients across 26 years of practice in West Los Angeles.
Jeremy Brook has been practicing yoga for over 30 years. Not casually—a deep, committed, lifelong practice that runs alongside everything else he has ever built.
It started with a book. In the late 1990s—while in chiropractic school—he read Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. That book did what only the best books do: it didn't just inform him, it changed him. It opened a door to understanding the body, the mind, and consciousness that chiropractic science alone couldn't fully capture.
Over the years, on trips from Los Angeles down to San Diego, there was always one stop: the Self-Realization Fellowship gardens in Encinitas. He would pull off the freeway, walk through those gates, and sit in meditation. Every single time. Something about that place—Yogananda's place on the California coast—always pulled him back.
Now he gets to live here. The SRF is no longer a roadside stop—it's down the road. The yoga community in Encinitas is deep and serious. The ocean is right there. And honestly? He just needed yoga and the water. Everything else followed.
📖 THE BOOK THAT STARTED IT ALL
Autobiography of a Yogi—Paramahansa Yogananda. Read in chiropractic school in the late 1990s. The intersection of ancient yogic wisdom and the science of the human nervous system has been the foundation of his work ever since.
"For years, on every drive down to San Diego, I would stop at the Self-Realization Fellowship gardens in Encinitas — drop in and meditate. Something about that place always pulled me back. Now I get to live here."

DR. KRISTYN SILVER- BROOK
THE SAN DIEGO GIRL COMING HOME
DC · WOMEN’S HEALTH · 10 Years
Dr. Kristyn Silver-Brook
WOMEN’S HEALTH & NERVOUS SYSTEM Specialist
Webster Technique certified. Prenatal and postpartum specialist. Creator of the Healing Ceremonial Session and the Momma Circle. Home birth baby. Home birth mama. San Diego native, returned.
Dr. Kristyn Silver-Brook didn't move to Encinitas—she came back. She grew up in San Diego. The ocean isn't a lifestyle choice for her—it's the baseline. It's home.
After a decade in Los Angeles building a clinical practice, raising children, and creating her Mamala brand, the pull toward the coast was always there. What Encinitas offers that LA couldn't is simple: tribe.
The mom circles. The ocean culture. The grounded, health-conscious community. Everything she has been building—the Momma Circle, the Healing Ceremonial Sessions, the Mamala brand—all of it points here. She is a San Diego woman returning to her element, with a decade of clinical excellence and an ocean she has been missing since she left.
🌊 An ocean lover, home at last
Kristyn grew up with the Pacific in her bones. Encinitas has the mom tribes, the wellness community, the beaches, and the kind of conscious, connected culture that mirrors everything she has spent her career building for women.
THE REAL REASON
Three kids changed everything.
Venice, California is one of the most extraordinary places on earth. The creativity, the energy, the freedom—as an adult who keeps their head on a swivel, you handle it. You thrive in it. You love it.
But after a while, you look at your children and you realize—it's not the safest spot to raise a family. Venice is funky and wild and alive. It's also complicated in ways that don't show up until you're a parent.
The move to Encinitas was, at its core, a decision for the kids. Safer streets. Better schools. Room to breathe. An ocean they can actually swim in. A community built around health, family, and people who are genuinely trying to live well.
The Westside gave the Brook family everything. It shaped them. But Encinitas gives their three children something the Westside simply couldn't: a foundation that will carry them for life.
